Field trips

Our family loves to go on field trips. As homeschoolers, we have such an advantage because we can go when other children are in school. Hands on experiences make active learning come to life. Here are some of our fun field trips:

2007: A very interesting homeschool group field trip. Seeing how a pig's lung works.

If you take a trip to D.C., here are some places you must see.

They offer a great tour

Colonial Farm in VA: Posie spinning wool to right
and the kids making candles below.

American Girl Day at the Navy Museum. This is Posie with one of the author's of the American Girl books, Valerie Tripp. Great day learning about the different time periods from the American Girl books. Posie dressed up like the character, Kirsten, from the 1800's.

This is a fun exhibit at the National Zoo. The kids pretended to be Zoo Keepers. These are some of our friends who went on many fun adventures with us. Here are some more pics below. Posie said it was a blast!

March 2012: Goat Farm Field Trip: We played with about 30 baby goats. Then, we saw the process of milking a goat, making cheese, etc. All the kids want to become goat farmers when they get older now.
